Returning to your roots can be a hard thing to do. Sometimes it means leaving things that you know and love behind. For the six members of Southbound 61 - who's ages span four decades - returning to their roots means returning to the no-holds-barred type of rock n' roll created before MTV generally destroyed music as we know it.
With a high energy and highly instrumental sound, influenced heavily by Southern Rock and Blues, Southbound 61 plays an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from the music of their youth all the way to contemporary favorites like Widespread Panic, Derek Trucks, Moe, Black Crowes, Phish, etc... but on their own terms. Blurring the lines of what is thought to be traditional Rock, Country Rock, Blue Grass, Southern Rock and Blues, Southbound 61 takes many favorites and adds a fresh jam-band feel making a style truly all their own.
